Call for Abstracts

The ISSA 2026 Mine Safety Conference Technical Program advances practical knowledge and solutions for mine operators. We are looking for high-quality, actionable content that shares real-world experience and addresses the health and safety challenges facing today’s mining industry.

Who Should Apply & How

We welcome submissions from:

  • Mine and mill operators, technical professionals, engineers, and project leaders
  • Academics and researchers collaborating with industry
  • Regulatory agencies
  • Mining associations, and mining affiliated associations (e.g. WIM/WIN)
  • Technology and service providers ideally presenting in collaboration with mine operators

We especially value content that:

  • Presents case studies, project learnings, and real-world applications
  • Highlights innovative practices, tools, and collaborative problem-solving
  • Offers insights that advance safety and technology in mining

Selection Criteria

Space in the program is limited (~30% by invitation, ~70% from general submissions). Submissions must:

  • Fit within one of the conference technical topics
  • Be non-commercial (no sales pitches or product demos)
  • Preferential consideration will be given to presentations that include a mine operator or a client representative when submitted by suppliers
  • For panels, preference to submissions which include at least one confirmed mine operator

Abstract Submission Types (max. 300 words)

1. Oral Presentation

20 minutes + 5 min Q&A

Ideal for:

  • Case studies and project results
  • Technical innovations relevant to mine site challenges
  • Collaborative operator–supplier insights

Requirements:

  • Technical depth, lessons learned, quantitative outcomes, or implementation details
  • Align with one of the core technical themes
  • No generic overviews or promotional content
2. Panel Session Proposal

45 minutes

Organizers are responsible for:

  • Securing 3–5 panelists (at least one mine operator preferred)
  • Confirming a moderator
  • Submitting a session description and list of invited speakers

Requirements:

  • Focus on discussion and exchange of perspectives, not presentations
  • No commercial or product-focused content

If your submitted abstract is accepted, all participants in the technical program, including panel organizers, panelists, moderators, and speakers/presenters, are required to pay the registration fee designated for their respective category. Failing to do so by the stipulated deadline may lead to your removal from the program.
