Abstract
What is process safety—and why does it matter in mining? What are the essentials I need to get right—and where do I start? How do I put process safety into practice—starting now?
While the discipline of process safety evolved in the chemical processing industry, the concepts are transforming critical risk management across a diverse range of industries, including mining.
The recent release of the CCPS Monograph on process safety in mining, minerals and metals and the well-embedded ICMM critical control management guidelines, clearly indicate that process safety matters in mining. And yet, there is often uncertainty as to what it actually means in mining, and how it fits with other critical risk management practices already in place. This workshop will explore the essential elements of process safety, put them alongside your existing programs, and allow you to see the gaps. Most importantly you will walk away with clear actions on what you can do now to embed process safety in your workplace.
In this half-day interactive workshop, Janelle Adrain, an experienced process safety leader, will work with you to identify pragmatic and actionable strategies for you to implement immediately. Drawing on decades of experience in applying process safety principles to high-hazard industries, including mining, minerals and bulk explosives, Janelle will deepen your insight into how process safety fits within your organization and the steps you can take now to build a successful and sustainable process safety program.
